Know your neighbor

Many of you might have heard of the idea of collaborative consumption.

But what exactly is it? The video below might give you some clues.

Collaborative Consumption: A film for the RSA/Nominet Trust by Throughline with Mindful Maps from Kate Hammer on Vimeo.

We have a new member called Antony Wong who started a platform called MyFlat not long ago to make it possible for people living in the same building or the same block to share resources more easily. They conducted a survey to learn about if Hong Kong people know more than at least one of their neighbors. The result is out. Check it out below 🙂

– 76%受訪者認識1-5位鄰居
– 12%受訪者連1位也不認識
– 沒有受訪者認識多過8位鄰居

The results from our 2nd “Know Your Neighbour” Survey are in! We found that:
– 76% know 1-5 neighbours
– 12% know zero
– none of our respondents know more than 8 neighbours.
If we consider an average count of 150 households per building with an average household size of 2.9, then each building contains around 435 people. This reveals a huge gap! Let‘s aim to know around 20 neighbours next year, representing 5% of all your neighbours in the building.
